The year is already moving swiftly! Our team recently gathered for a day of reflection to celebrate our 2019 milestones and brainstorm ways to create more opportunities for diverse entrepreneurs in 2020.
We kicked off 2019 by hosting the opening plenary session at the Obama Foundation’s My Brother’s Keeper Alliance MBK Rising! Summit in Oakland, CA. We joined forces with a number of friends in the ecosystem, including Google-Austin and Generation Titans to launch the Titan Award. We also supported entrepreneurs through a number of programming and events, such as as the Montgomery County Children’s Business Fair and “Scale-Up Pitch Challenge” at the National Black MBA Association’s annual conference in Houston. Our team volunteered at Martha’s Table to engage with the greater DC community. We were also invited to join the conversation on “In Focus with Cheryl Wills” on NY1 to support Bronx and New York-based entrepreneurs. At the end of the year, we were proud to announce our newest Envolve Award USA recipients from eight targeted cities!
Our Envolve Award winners were also up to great things! Sustainable Snacks launched with Bed, Bath and Beyond in the New York City tri-state area. Ginjan Bros opened their flagship cafe in Harlem! And Watt + Flux celebrated its five year anniversary.
