This past month, we celebrated National Black Business Month (NBBM) to highlight the importance of these businesses to the Black community as well as our national economy. NBBM also brings awareness to the policy issues affecting Black entrepreneurship. Elizabeth Gore, President and Chairwoman of Hello Alice, addressed what Black business owners need most right now, according to Black business owners in a recent Inc. article. Hello Alice partnered with business support organizations Black & Brown Founders, DivInc, and Digital Undivided for a new Impact Report that analyzes the challenges the Black business community is facing right now. Black entrepreneurs overwhelmingly said in the survey that access to capital is their number one need right now. Access to capital is one of the issues that Envolve is addressing through our advocacy efforts with partners in the ecosystem. Check out our Advocacy section for the latest updates on REUNION, a platform for entrepreneurs of color to close the early-stage capital gap through an online “friends and family” network.
We also recognized World Entrepreneurs’ Day (WED) on August 21st. WED is a day to create awareness for entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership throughout the world. WED is the day of founders, managers, innovators, designers, and producers. We encourage our community to check out our amazing group of Envolve Award USA winners from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cycles of our Award program. We’re so proud to watch their resilience, perseverance, and ability to reinvent themselves during this very unique time.
